About Us

A machinery dealership with deep roots in agriculture, our business has grown to serve not only “conventional” farms, but also the landscape and construction industries, public sector clientele, and the many part-time operators throughout the region.

At Pine Plains Tractor and Equipment we offer a full lineup of machines you need to get things done.  Whether you’re making hay, tilling the land, keeping livestock fed, building fence, clearing brush, removing snow- you name it and chances are we handle just what you’ll need to get the job done right.

Stop by for a visit and you’re likely to see New Holland and Kioti sub-compact and compact tractors, along with a nice selection of New Holland Workmaster utility tractors, as well as hay tools from New Holland, Kuhn and more.

We offer rotary cutters from Bush Hog and Woods, and the entire York lineup of landscape rakes, brooms and power rakes.  Worksaver offers a broad array of attachments for tractors and skid steers, all made in the USA.

New Holland Construction makes some of the toughest tractor loader backhoes, skid steer loaders,  compact track loaders and attachments around. Why drive to Albany or beyond when chances are we have just what you need right here in Pine Plains.

Are you the owner or operator of other brands?  That’s OK, our attachments and implements are typically compatible with machines from John Deere, Kubota, Bobcat, Massey Ferguson, CaseIH, Mahindra and more.

Sales, Parts and Service: Focused on Our Neighbors...

Our primary service areas include the New York counties of Dutchess, Columbia, Ulster and Greene, along with Berkshire County, MA and Litchfield County, CT.  What’s that mean?  Equipment we deliver in these areas has the full support of our service department, with both road service and pickup and delivery available.*

That said, we also understand that some folks prefer tractor or skid steer brands we don’t sell, but that doesn’t make us any less eager to offer them attachments and implements from some of the world’s leading manufacturers like Worksaver, Bush Hog, Woods, Reist, Sundown, Wallenstein, Baumalight, York, Danuser and more, often at a significant savings.

Our Parts Department uses half-a-century worth of sales history and experience to have the parts you need on the shelf, and the ability to get non-stocking parts to you in a hurry.  Our Service Department is made up of experienced technicians trained to keep your machinery running its best, at “your place or ours”.

This means that equipment we deliver in these areas has the support of our service department, with both road service and pickup and delivery service.*

    Manufacturers Programs and Discounts

For an “at-a-glance” look at our manufacturer sales programs and promotions, check out our Programs page. That’s where finance deals and discounts from New Holland, Kioti, Bush Hog, Woods and others are posted.  These manufacturers periodically offer promotional financing, sometimes as low as 0% and for terms as long as 84 months. Offering “Cash Back” or “Rebates” in lieu of the low rate financing is also fairly common. Ask a Pine Plains Tractor and Equipment Sales Representative whether any unpublished” or “target programs” exist, as manufacturers sometimes subsidize retail sales to spur growth in what is a very competitive marketplace. Among these deals are discounts for quantity, special savings for non-profit, governmental and fleet users.

    Package Deals(?)

    Here's a Tip:
Just Because it's a "Package" Doesn't Make it a Deal.

    "Big Box" Doesn't Work Here

If you are tractor shopping, you’re bound to hear of “Package Deals”.  Typically offered by chain dealerships, they can seem very inviting at first glance-  and they sure do make a salesperson’s job easy.

But what if you don’t need the box scraper, trailer or “free” (really?) pallet forks that are part of the package?  Well, then it’s back to the drawing board, and that package savings, most likely, is out the window.  It’s easy to fall under the spell of fancy advertising, celebrity endorsements and claims of savings.

A Better Way to Buy Your Equipment

Since opening in 1970 we’ve delivered a whole lot of tractors and equipment.  Each and every delivery has consisted of machinery that was sold only after discussing the individual needs of the farmer, contractor, municipality, estate or homeowner client. We apply all available factory incentives and great dealer discounts to arrive at selling prices that represent outstanding values. And by the way, this isn’t just for tractors, but box blades, hay rakes, snow blowers, or anything else we sell.

Here's What You Can Expect From Us

    • First of all, you can expect to be treated fairly and with respect, whether you are a farmer with hundreds of acres or a first time tractor buyer with an acre or two.
    • We are committed to the tractor and equipment industry. This isn’t a sideline for us, it really is “what we do”,  You won’t see rows of ATV’s on display, and no residential lawn and garden equipment, either.
    • Our pricing is competitive. Our trade-in allowances, too. We don’t play games, this is serious business to us.
    • We’re open six days a week, and have a dedicated team of professionals.  There’s not a lot we haven’t seen, so when the time comes the you need service, our trained technicians know what it takes to get you back up and running.

    Shopping? Here's How...

There’s no substitute for sitting on the seat of a tractor. See first hand visibility to the drawbar and three point hitch, steering response, noise level, leg room and more. We encourage a “Ride and Drive” that will help determine if the unit measures up.

We can cover a lot of ground with a phone conversation. We’ll discuss your needs, answer questions regarding our machinery, how it may compare to competitors like Deere, Kubota and more. We’ll send a quote ASAP

Take a few moments to describe what you’re looking for. Describe your needs, not just the equipment itself, but also the type of work and chores you’d like to accomplish. We”ll get to work and do our best to earn your business.

    Used Equipment

Where Does Our Used Equipment Come From?

Not auctions, that’s for sure.  Fact is, we do lots of trading.  We trade for all makes of tractors, skid steers, backhoes, and implements.  In fact, if you have a tractor or other piece of equipment you aren’t using or no longer need, let us know!  We can allow a fair trade value against any new or used equipment purchase.  Want to sell the item outright? Please speak with a member of our sales team – we’ll be glad to sell it for you on a consignment basis.

Financing is available for just about everything we sell. Just Ask!
