It varies from day-to-day. Our Used Inventory is sourced “organically”, as either trade-ins, consignments or an occasional private sale, generally from an existing client.
Not here in Pine Plains. Instead of spending our Saturdays and Sundays trying to outbid folks who are sometimes our own customers, we’re more likely to be spending time with family and friends.
Fortunately for us, as well as our customers,, much of our used inventory was originally sold by our dealership and subsequently serviced by our technicians, and records are sometimes available for viewing. Furthermore, some of the machines we sell have seen very light or seasonal use, and have been protected from the elements.
Reasons vary, but tend to involve a client’s changing needs or desire for a larger machine, perhaps trading an open station tractor for one with a cab, something with more power or perhaps four wheel drive. The reasons are actually similar to those considered whan any type of vehicle is traded.
If you seek a particular make or model you can let us know by completing a brief form. We just may know of someone looking to trade just what you’re looking for.
In some cases we are able to assist in finding ccertain makes and models customers are seeking. We may learn of a lease return coming in soon or be aware of someone wishing to sell just what you’re looking for. The best way to find out is to complete this form, and we will be in touch.
Virtually all second-hand machinery is sold “as-is, where-is”. Knowing this right up front can save all parties lots of time. In other words, unless you are an experienced mechanic, buying a tractor or any machine that requires significant repair makes little sense. The exceptions to this policy is when either a) items purchased have factory warranty remaining; or b) when items are eligible for a Purchased Protection Plan. Never “take for granted” that any piece of equipment has warranty unless the policy is provided to you in writing!
Pine Plains Tractor and Equipment is often able to facilitate financing for used machinery. The sources of this financing include DLL , CNH Capital , Sheffield among others. We are not a lender, and do not participate in lending decisions.
That can happen for a couple of reasons. First, the machine has been traded in but is in need of service or repairs, and we have decided to sell the machine following completion of the work. The timing for completion is dependent on the current workload, as we complete customer repairs first prior to our own, which sometimes means waiting until the winter time when business allows.
The other reason is that the unit in question belongs to a client and is awaiting repair, or has yet to be picked up.
